Turkey & Rome Tour

ISTANBUL

When you arrive in Istanbul your tour guide will meet you after customs and baggage claim. We will then go to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

IZMIR, EPHESUS

We will fly from Istanbul to Izmir and then travel to Ephesus, the first of the Seven Churches of Asia Minor in the book of Revelation. You will see the amazing ruins of this great city including the amphitheater, the library, the Temple of Hadrian and the newly excavated Roman terrace houses. Then we’ll return to Izmir for dinner and our overnight stay.

PERGAMUM, THYRATIRA, SARDIS

After breakfast today we will leave for Bergama which is the site of ancient Pergamum (Pergamos), the third of the Seven Churches of Revelation. We’ll visit the acropolis and see the impressive theater, the Temple of Athena, and other ruins of former civilizations. We’ll continue on to Akhisar to visit the ruins of Thyatira, home of the fourth of the Seven Churches. From there we’ll travel to Sardis, one of the most picturesque areas of any of the Seven Churches. We’ll see the ruins of the Temple of Artemis, as well as a small Byzantine church. We will have dinner and spend the night in Sardis.

PHILADELPHIA, LAODICEA, COLOSSE

After breakfast we will travel to Alasehir to visit the ruins of Philadelphia. We’ll then travel on to Eskihisar to visit Laodicea, the last of the Seven Churches of Revelation where we will see the new excavations there. After that it is on to Honaz where we will see the unexcavated site of Colossae. After an early dinner, we will go to the Denizli Airport to catch a flight back to Istanbul, where we will spend the night.

ISTANBUL, ROME

In the morning we will catch a flight from Istanbul to Rome, arriving at 10 am. After checking in at our hotel and having lunch, we will visit the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel, followed by a four-hour tour of St. Peter’s Basilica. In the evening we will have a welcome dinner at a local restaurant.

ROME

After breakfast at the hotel, we will embark on an 8-hour guided tour of Rome. This tour will include the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, the Forum, Basilica St. Clemente (with excavations), and Basilica St. Paul outside the Walls. The day will conclude with dinner at a local restaurant.

HOME

We will head to the airport this morning for our trip home to the U.S.
