Petra Extension

5-Day Petra Extension Tour

Early this morning, we’ll leave Jerusalem and head to the Valley of Elah. It was here that God used young David to slay the mighty Goliath and Israel defeated the Philistine army. On our way into the Negev Desert, we will come to Kibbutz Sde Boker, which is the home of Israel’s first Prime Minister, David Ben Gurion. We’ll also pass through the storied Wilderness of Zin! After this, we’ll find ourselves at the city of Avdat, which is an ancient Nabatean city which supported a population of 100,000 people in the fifth century AD. Archaeologists are trying to reconstruct the ancient systems of irrigation, because today’s engineers do not know how to replicate the results. We will stop in the town of Mitzpe Ramon where there is a magnificent view of the Great Crater. Then we will travel on to the resort city of Eilat on the Red Sea, where we will be staying for the next three nights.

Today we’ll enjoy a full day trip to the exciting rose-red city of Petra in Jordan, which is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We cross the border into Jordan at Eilat and drive up to Petra, where we will spend the whole day exploring this magnificent biblical site – a city carved out of a desert mountain range. Petra not only has stunning physical beauty, unique and ancient architecture, and an amazing past – but it has a stunning prophetic future as well. At the end of this incredible day, we return to Eilat.

On this exciting day, we will visit Eilat’s world-famous Underwater Observatory, which is actually in the Red Sea. We’ll also take a one-of-a-kind cruise on the Red Sea in a private schooner, where we will have the opportunity to enjoy some swimming, snorkeling, and lunch! The remainder of the day will be leisure time in Eilat, which has been voted the top winter resort for Europe and Israel.

This morning we’ll be able to sleep in and relax in Eilat. After which we leave for Tel Aviv, where we will enjoy a delicious farewell dinner, and then board our evening flight home.

Early this morning we will arrive back in the U.S.
